Äntligen är Lundaspelen 2023 igång. Vid invigningen igår i Sparbanken Skåne Arena talade LUGI´s ordförande Mats Nilsson för över 2300 deltagare och lyfte fram idrottens roll i samhället och världen. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, players, and handball enthusiasts, welcome to Lundaspelen – the world’s largest indoor tournament in Handball!
Today, we gather here in Lund, a city renowned for its prestigious university, the delicious Knake sausage, and Eurovision winner Måns Zelmerlöw. But, today, Lund is also the epicenter of the thrilling and vibrant world of youth handball.
In a world marked by great unrest, it is truly heartening to witness so many friendly faces, representing teams from across Europe, ranging from the spirited eight-year-olds to the determined nineteen-year-olds. Lundaspelen transcends boundaries, bringing together the youth in the spirit of camaraderie and competition.
Handball is more than just a sport; it’s a game of fair play. We play hard, but we play fair. We tackle, but we help each other up again.
